About

Madhumita has almost 23 years of experience in Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Risk Consulting, International Contracts, Service Matters, Gender Issues (POSH LAWS), Family Laws and Mediation. She has worked both in-house as well as with law firms advising clients on a variety of commercial and family disputes and has built specialization across several industry sectors such as shipping, aviation, power, infrastructure, healthcare, retail, software, education and insurance.

Madhumita has been an arguing counsel representing clients before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and other judicial fora.

Madhumita has many notable publications in Scopus and other journals in her practice domains and is a keynote speaker in various international conferences. She is a visiting Faculty in International Business Laws and Maritime Laws at the prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Gujarat National Law University.

Madhumita is a Life Member with the International Council of Jurists London; Advisory Member to the International Council of Commercial Arbitration at the Hague Germany; Member Global Leaders in Law’ Associate Member National Maritime Foundation; Associate Member Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses. Prior to joining HSA, Madhumita was associated with the Chambers of Mr. Salman Khurshid.

Representative matters

  • SKEC-KCT JV Strategic Crude Oil Project at Mangalore & Padur in relation to acting as a counsel for the project and advising on risks, claims assessment, arbitration, negotiation, mediation, EPF appeals, contract management, compliance and regulatory management and litigation.
  • Tehri Hydro Development Project in relation to head the project legal team and act as an arguing counsel on behalf of KCT at various arbitration and before various other judicial fora for various disputes during the project and post project stages.
  • Flipkart-Walmart in relation to conducting due diligence and advising on various legal aspects related to the deal.
  • IFFCO-Tokio Insurance Company in relation to representing the client before SCDRC, NCDRC, various other judicial fora including Delhi High Court and Supreme Court of India.
