Ramya Hariharan is a partner of the Firm. With over 14 years of practice, she has experience in handling general corporate, mergers and acquisitions, projects and banking and finance matters. Ramya is also a qualified company secretary.
She has worked closely with the government in several transactions and has advised on several PPP projects including integrated township projects, water projects etc. She was involved in the disinvestment initiative of the Government of West Bengal and led the team that was involved in drafting the legislation for setting up SIR in Orissa. She is also currently working on certain infrastructure reform projects in Orissa.
Ramya has also advised on several acquisitions both listed and unlisted, including cross border acquisitions and transactions entailing strategic investment as well as in those involving financial investment. She has represented the buy side as well as sell side in acquisition transactions. She has also been involved in various financing transactions and closed project finance transactions over approximately INR 7000 crores.
Ramya graduated as a lawyer is 2001 from the Calcutta University. She began her career as a litigating lawyer in Kolkata. After two and half years of practice as a litigating lawyer and after gaining some experience in IP law, she moved to Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (Amarchand) (as it was then known). She resigned from Amarchand in 2009 as a principal associate and co-founded Argus Partners. She was the partner-in-charge of the Kolkata operations of Argus Partners. She quit Argus Partners in September 2014 to start her independent practice under the name Citadel Law Chambers before joining HSA Advocates.
Ramya has delivered lectures on several occasions at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and in other forums including, Assocham and VCCircle seminars. Ramya is a charter member of TIE (Kolkata Chapter) and is also a part of the mentor group of accelerators like Founders’ institute, Neoleap etc.
She is on the board of various listed and unlisted companies including Tayo Rolls Limited, a part of Tata Group of Companies.
